N FEBRUARY 12th, the Canadian Rabbinic Caucus went to Ottawa to meet with Parliamentarians, government officials and diplomats. The day was facilitated by the Canada-Israel Committee.
CIC believes that rabbis are important leaders of the Jewish community. They approach advocacy from a spiritual and religious standpoint.
The Canadian Rabbinic Caucus focused on three main issues in their discussions:
Thanking the different parties that supported the pull out from the Durban II Anti-Racism Conference.
The necessity for the Palestinians to recognize Israel as a Jewish State as a pre-condition for negotiations.
The Rabbis' desire to avoid military conflict with Iran, and the usefulness of comprehensive sanctions from Canada to achieve that objective.
