ITH SIX MINISTERS AND over 75 parliamentarians in attendance, superb Israeli food, projections on the walls that gave the illusion that one was actually in Jerusalem and an overall mood of congeniality and good will, there is no doubt that our May 15 Jerusalem Day reception was a resounding success. The Speaker of the House stated that we were there to celebrate the 40th anniversary of a re-united Jerusalem where freedom and religious tolerance prevail. Ambassador Baker spoke about the multi-cultural atmosphere of the city. Naomi Azrielli elaborated on how the Jerusalem Foundation works to improve the quality of life for all Jerusalemites. Rabbi Chaim Steinmetz ensured that everyone in the crowd raised a glass in honour of Canada, Israel and Jerusalem.
