CIC Congratulates Ehud Olmert on Election Victory

On behalf of Canada's organized Jewish community, Marc Gold, national chair of the Canada-Israel Committee, congratulated prime minister-elect Ehud Olmert on Kadima's victory in today's Israeli elections.

"The results demonstrate the dynamism and diversity of Israel’s democratic process," said Mr. Gold. "The election signals the Israeli desire for a stable and pragmatic approach to security, and a focus on domestic social policy issues such as healthcare and education.

"We wish Mr. Olmert every success as he embarks on his first task of putting together a governing coalition."
