According to Reports: For Obama, Syria Might Be Easier Than the Palestinians
December 4, 2008 – 2:44 pmIn his weekly Canadian Jewish News media analysis column “According to Reports,” Paul Michaels, CIC Director of Communications, looks at coverage of Israel’s peace talks with Syria, and the possiblity that these could yield results prior to Israel coming to an agreement with the Palestinians.
Writes Michaels: “In ‘Start With Syria’ (Washington Post, Nov. 26), Aaron David Miller, a former Middle East adviser to both Democratic and Republican secretaries of state, argues that the new United States administration under president-elect Barack Obama stands a better chance of achieving success on the Israeli-Syrian track than in pursuing an Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement, where circumstances make progress in the near future almost impossible.”
