Update: Israeli Wines Sell Out in BC

March 6, 2009 – 11:05 am

In response to the CIC’s  call for action (see below), supporters of Israel flocked to BC Liquor Stores over the weekend, buying Israeli wine in order to thwart a planned boycott.

In fact, response was so strong that Israeli wine sold out in at least three Vancouver area stores.

The anti-Israel boycotters should realize that their tactics only serve to strengthen support and help Israel.

Original post:

Israel’s opponents are once again targeting Israeli wines in BC liquor stores for picketing and boycott.

The CIC’s  Western Region office is asking you to help send a strong message to Israel’s opponents by

BUYING ISRAELI WINE
Friday March 6/Saturday March 7
You can purchase wine from any convenient liquor store
The protest is planned for March 7, 4 p.m., at the BC Liquor Store, 4423 Main St., Vancouver

On two previous occasions, you have responded to calls for boycott by buying out Israeli wines in liquor stores targeted for picketing. This time more than ever, we need to send an unequivocal message to those who seek to isolate the Middle East’s only democracy that we stand with Israel.

Please note that this action call is in response to an announced anti-Israel picket to take place at 4 p.m. We ask that you not directly engage the anti-Israel demonstrators in any way.

Thank you again for your support.

  2. unfortunately as a result of the global shock of the israeli governments killing in the gaza, israel is now what south africa was in the 80 s. more and more countries will begin to boycott israeli products and protest the arrival of israeli academics and sports teams. negotiations leading to a Palestinian State that includes the withdrawal of all settlers from the west bank is the only way out. obama and the eroupeans will not continue to support the cruel reprisal killings that just occured in the gaza.

  3. I doubt that Brian Mills speaks for President Obama. Why is he not asking the Palestinians to renounce violence (rockets are still falling on the southern towns in Israel) and recognize the right of Jews to live in their tiny piece of real estate. Fortunately, although he is part of a noisy group, it is small compared to those who support Israelis right to live in peace and security. If Palestinians want peace, they simply need to stop using violence as a negotiating tool.
